Student Career Guide

Appointments, Career Chats, & Career Express

We provide a hands-on interactive process where USF students and alumni can work with a Career Coach to develop a plan of action around a career-related topic through appointments and drop-in Career Chats.  We also provide peer coaching through Career Express Drop-in, brief 15-minute sessions, that allow students to get answers to basic career-related questions.

Workshops

The Center for Career & Professional Development know how busy our students and alumni are which may prevent them from attending one of our valuable workshops. Handshake

Handshake is the online career management system for students at the University of South Florida.

In addition to being the place where you can search and apply for internships, Co-op, part-time, and full-time jobs, you can also use Handshake to:

  • Upload a resume and complete your online career profile
  • Allow your online career profile and resume to be viewable by employers
  • Keep track of your appointments with the Center for Career & Professional Development in one location
  • Learn which employers are attending upcoming Career & Internship Fairs
  • View upcoming local and on-campus career events
  • Research contact information for local and national employers
  • Search for and apply to open positions

Suit-A-Bull (Tampa)

Suit-A-Bull is a free professional clothing resource for USF students.

Students can find attire for career fairs, interviews, and workplace meetings/events when professional clothing is required. Browse and try on clothing and take up to 4 items to take home to keep (limit 1 suit).

CareerShift

CareerShift helps job seekers access the 70% of jobs that are never published on public job boards. Recognizing that who you know is critical and many job seekers have limited networks, CareerShift’s mission is to level the job playing field and provide equitable access to job opportunities.- https://careers.usf.edu/resources/careershift/


GoinGlobal

GoinGlobal is an online website that gives students and faculty access to career resources and travel guides in more than 40 countries and 53 cities in the United States and Canada.

GoinGlobal career and employment resources include more than 10,000 pages of constantly updated content on topics including: job search sources, work permit/visa regulations, resume writing guidelines, employment trends, salary ranges, networking groups, cultural/interviewing advice and more. In addition to job resources, each country profile contains cultural advice and guidelines.

Students will also benefit from the USA City Guides which contain career and employment resources for the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the United States. Included in this database are: job search resources, employment outlook, professional networking groups, cost of living, and major employer listings by industry sector, non-profits and volunteer opportunities. Big Interview

Big Interview can help you feel confident before your interview. With thousands of questions available – including general questions and specific job and skill related ones – you can create practice interviews that closely mirror the actual interview you’re preparing for. The O*NET system is maintained by a regularly updated database of occupational characteristics and worker requirements information across the U.S. economy. A college and career planning tool dedicated to providing students and parents with a wealth of information to help make better-informed decisions about educational options in the State University System of Florida.
