CAREER COACHING APPOINTMENT

Career coaching is a hands-on, interactive process where USF students and alumni can work with a Career Coach to develop a plan of action around a career-related topic. We offer career coaching appointments both in-person (on all USF campuses) and virtual (in Handshake). Appointments are 30 or 60 minutes in length depending on the topic.

Meet with a Career Coach for:

  • Career Exploration
  • Resume, CV, and Cover Letter
  • Networking Skills and Event Prep
  • Interview Skills
  • Dress for Success
  • Internship, Co-op, Part-Time, and Full-Time Job Search
  • Job Offer and Salary Negotiation
  • Grad School Planning
  • School to Work Transition

What you need to know:

  • Appointment must be made in advance.
  • In-person or virtual appointments are available.
  • Appointments are released in the Handshake system on a two-week, rolling basis. If you don’t see any appointments available, check back periodically to see if new appointments have been released or if there was a cancelation.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Appointments are scheduled in the Career Center section of Handshake. If you need help navigating this, read this Handshake article.

Be sure you have your notifications in Handshake set up to receive e-mail reminders for your appointments. If you are not sure how to manage your notifications, this Handshake article can help you.

How do I cancel an appointment?

If you need to cancel your appointment, please log back into Handshake and use the appointment tool to cancel and/or reschedule your appointment. You may do this up to one hour before your appointment’s start time, but we ask that you cancel an appointment as early as possible so someone else may use the time.

If it is less than an hour before your appointment’s start time OR you missed your appointment entirely, please call to let us know what happened. Please be sure to review our No-Show Guidelines.

What if I have technical problems during a virtual appointment?

All of our virtual appointments will be delivered inside Handshake. Please review this Handshake article for recommendations on how to fix audio or video issues.
