My Career Journey

I was searching for a suitable career by working in different jobs such as real estate, construction and hospitality, while also taking different courses in accounting, IT, and psychology. This wasn’t the most expedient or cost effective way of finding a career. Finally, I visited a career center and followed the process of assessment for self-knowledge, research for occupational knowledge, and career shadowing to experience a “day-in-the-life”. While using the resources in the career center at USF, I realized I liked reading occupational information and could visualize myself working in a center.

Since then, I’ve had a seamless and progressive career starting as the School-to-Work Specialist at Riverview High School, Career Advisor at Manatee Community College, and Coordinator of Career Services at the University of South Florida, Sarasota Campus. As an employee of a small department and small campus, I wear multiple hats. This has given me the opportunity to represent USF and the Center for Career & Professional Development in the community as well as contribute to or lead the work of several committees’ on- and off-campus campus. I believe and hope everyone finds a career that brings satisfaction and enjoyment.
