6th Consolidated Term
The Election Rules Commission (ERC) Deputy Supervisor of Elections is responsible for assisting all official ERC operations and elections processes including, but not limited to advertising Student Government Elections, candidate information meetings, reviewing grievances, setting up/working polling stations, and certifying election results. The chief focus of the position is in programming planning and implementation.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the daily business of all Student Government Elections.
- Help inform candidates of election rules and regulations and their respective enforcement when necessary.
- Vote on any issue during an ERC meeting.
- Create and coordinate programming efforts on behalf of the ERC.
- Implement event ideas to promote the election process.
- Coordinate all logistics for ERC events.
- Assist in the recruitment of poll workers.
- Help set up and work official polling stations during voting days on your respective campus.
- Attend all ERC sponsored events including debates and the Inauguration Ceremony.
- Assume the duties of any ERC position ONLY in the event that the need arises.
- Testify in cases brought to the Supreme Court concerning elections.
- Propose, write and edit Rules of Procedures to be adopted by the ERC.
- Act on behalf of the Supervisor of Elections and the Associate Supervisor of Elections when they are not present.
- Perform all other duties as necessary to execute the mission of the USF Student Government.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be in good academic standing and maintain a minimum cumulative institutional 2.5 GPA for undergraduate students and a 3.0 for graduate students.
- Must be actively enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours as an undergraduate degree seeking student or a minimum of 4 credit hours as a post-baccalaureate student during the fall and spring semesters.
- Must not be under current disciplinary probation, suspension or expulsion with the university.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and a commitment to ethical practices.
- Ability to think critically and logically in any given situation.
- Preferred experience with conflict management, cultural settings, and working within a team dynamic.
- Possess a working understanding of Title VII of the Student Government statutes and be familiar with the election rules and processes.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Average of 6-8 hours a week in an office setting. May have to travel within the state and on campus for Student Government conferences, programs, events, and meetings while preparing for elections and will work outside the office when supervising/working election polling stations.
