Job Title: Student Government Coordinator of Marketing
Reports to: Student Government Executive Board & SG Advisor/Supervisor
Position Overview:
The Student Government (SG) Coordinator of Marketing is a responsible paraprofessional role focused on developing and executing marketing strategies that promote SG initiatives, events, and student engagement efforts. This role requires a strategic thinker, strong communicator, and creative problem-solver who can work collaboratively with SG leadership while maintaining professional oversight from the SG Advisor/Supervisor.
The Coordinator of Marketing plays a critical role in shaping SG’s image, ensuring that outreach efforts effectively communicate SG’s mission and engage the student body. The ideal candidate should be comfortable managing social media, coordinating promotional campaigns, and collaborating with campus partners to amplify SG’s presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement marketing plans and campaigns to promote Student Government initiatives, events, and outreach efforts.
- Manage and create engaging content for SG’s social media accounts, website, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with SG leadership, student organizations, and campus departments to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Work with campus partners to ensure Student Government events receive adequate promotion and student participation.
- Attend SG meetings and events to capture content, document initiatives, and maintain transparency with the student body.
- Analyze the effectiveness of marketing strategies, adjusting campaigns as needed based on engagement metrics and feedback.
- Ensure brand consistency across all SG promotional materials and communications.
- Stay informed about emerging trends in marketing, digital media, and student engagement to keep SG’s strategies current and effective.
- Adhere to guidance from the SG Advisor/Supervisor, ensuring accountability and professionalism in all marketing efforts.
Requirements:
✔️ Be enrolled in and complete at least 9 credit hours per semester.
✔️ Maintain a 2.5 GPA at the time of application and strive for a 2.8 GPA for the duration of the term.
✔️ Attend 100% of required retreats and trainings.
✔️ Attend 100% of required official meetings.
✔️ Attend 100% of required events and activities.
✔️ Meet and not exceed required office hours.
Qualifications & Education Requirements:
✅ Must be in good academic standing (minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA for undergraduates, 3.0 GPA for graduate students).
✅ Must be actively enrolled for at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 4 credit hours (graduate) during fall and spring semesters.
✅ Must not be under current disciplinary probation, suspension, or expulsion.
✅ Must demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability.
✅ Must be able to think critically and logically in complex situations.
✅ Preferred experience in conflict resolution and working in diverse cultural settings.
✅ Preferred experience working within a team-oriented environment.
✅ Preferred experience in marketing, social media management, or digital communications.
✅ Must be proactive, take initiative, and develop strategic marketing goals for SG operations.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based role with occasional travel within the Tampa Bay area for SG meetings and conferences.
- Travel accommodations will be arranged by Student Government when applicable.
- Position requires approximately 5-10 hours per week.
