The Boathouse Staff Member is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the USF St. Petersburg Boathouse. This includes assisting students, members, and the community with watercraft rentals, ensuring the safety of all patrons, maintaining equipment, and promoting outdoor recreation opportunities. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about water sports, outdoor activities, and customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist students, staff, and community members renting kayaks, paddleboards, and other watercraft.
- Ensure proper check-in/check-out procedures for all equipment.
- Conduct safety briefings and educate patrons on waterway rules, weather conditions, and best practices.
- Monitor waterfront conditions and ensure adherence to safety policies.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of boats, paddles, life vests, and other gear.
- Assist with special events, programs, and group activities hosted by Outdoor Adventures.
- Enforce boathouse policies and report any safety concerns or rule violations.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and incidents.
- Promote Outdoor Adventures programs and sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Must be a current USF St. Petersburg student in good academic standing.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in outdoor conditions, including heat and humidity.
