The Evelyn Duvall Graduate Research Assistantship is now accepting applications for the Spring 2025 academic term. This assistantship is a unique opportunity for a master’s level student in a social work, public health, or behavioral health-focused program to enhance their research skillset and build a foundation for future academic success. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to pursuing a PhD after completing their master’s degree and a demonstrate passion for community organizing and substance misuse research.
Position Details:
Title: Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)
Hours: 20 hours per week
Duration: Spring 2025 Academic Term
Compensation: $7,652 | Standard GRA pay as per the Florida Collective Bargaining Agreement
Location: Sarasota-Manatee Campus | Online
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a current master’s level student enrolled at USF.
- The assistantship is open to master’s students from all campuses, but preference will be given to students enrolled at the Sarasota-Manatee Campus.
- Demonstrated interest in community-engaged research, addictions research, and community organizing.
- Intent to pursue a PhD after completing the master’s degree.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing and implementing the Evelyn Duvall Annual Conference, held in April on the Sarasota-Manatee Campus.
- Provide research support to the Duvall Chair, including community-focused initiatives and research projects.
- Participate in the research process, including opportunities for co-authoring and publishing in peer-reviewed journals
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Enthusiastic about community-based research and learning how to contribute to scholarly publications.
- Interested in capacity-building initiatives related to substance misuse that impact community well-being.
- Motivated to gain experience in planning and managing academic events and engaging in academic research.
