Description
This position provides hands on experience in an academic medical center environment and involves direct interaction with research participants, clinical research staff, and multidisciplinary study teams. The Student Research Assistant will independently perform assigned clinical research tasks, support clinic operations, and coordinate assigned studies while contributing meaningfully to ongoing research projects. The role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently after training.
Responsibilities
The Student Research Assistant will check research participants in and out of the Clinical Research Center, assist with clinic flow, and communicate participant arrivals and visit needs to clinical research staff. The role includes coordinating studies, managing assigned studies, organizing study visits, and tracking study activities. The Student Research Assistant will independently perform laboratory processing activities in accordance with study protocols and institutional requirements, including specimen labeling, preparation, centrifugation, storage, transport, and documentation of laboratory workflows. Additional duties include preparing study visit materials, assisting with clinic room setup, entering and verifying study data, maintaining organized and compliant study records, and providing accurate information to regulatory staff as needed. The Student Research Assistant will support general Clinical Research Center operations by stocking and organizing clinic supplies and assisting with routine clinic needs to maintain a safe and efficient research environment. The role requires professional communication with research participants, investigators, and research team members, adherence to all institutional, regulatory, and protocol specific requirements including IRB policies, HIPAA, and human subjects protections, and support of clinical research team members with additional clinic and research related tasks as needed. Other duties as assigned.
